Tonight we had an abbreviated class session en lieu of Back-to-School night. I distributed the Curriculum Action Plan assignment and talked briefly about identifying a context (or need) for your project. Ideally, we'd like to initiate and implement change from the ground up in a democratic sort of way. However, the reality is that in schooling much change is attemped from top down, in a bureaucratic manner. Either way, select an area for change that you'd like to explore for the remainder of the semester. Describe the need only (not ideas for change) in Part I of your CAP. See the assignment sheet for more details. We'll leverage Fullan's ideas from Chapters 1-3, 12-13 next week when we share our statements in groups.
